The Fugitive's Case

The enemy is smart and cold-blooded. In his arsenal: logic, persistence, and precise calculation. He is sure he knows how to defeat us in this showdown. But the enemy doesn’t account for one thing—on his path stand super-professionals in their field, people of risk, honor, and unbending will: Soviet counterintelligence officers.

1982. Soviet scientists are developing the latest combat flamethrower system. Western special services succeed in recruiting one of the project participants—the scientist Alexey Poplavsky. The KGB learns about it. Sensing danger, the traitor leaves for a symposium in West Germany and stays abroad. A group led by Major Mikhail Koltsov is sent to search for the fugitive. Suddenly it turns out that safe houses on the other side have been compromised. The operatives get caught in a difficult situation from which they can escape—and successfully carry out the mission—only thanks to an unconventional solution…
