At a festival in Old Ladoga, Dasha’s father quarreled with a one-eyed old man—and disappeared. Who could have guessed that it was Odin himself? Now Dasha, together with a spiteful white horse, must travel along the World Tree to Asgard to save her father and, along the way, meet the Vikings, gods, and monsters from Scandinavian sagas.
In ancient times, fearless Viking Varangians sailed the seas—conquerors and explorers. They built fortresses in new lands, and one of them, for example, stood on Ladoga… The Vikings fought and composed harsh, thrilling sagas about gods, heroes, and monsters—stories that are still remembered to this day.
All across the Universe stretches the World Tree Yggdrasil. On its branches are the worlds: Asgard—the dazzling heavenly city of the gods; Midgard—the land of people; Jotunheim—the icy, unfriendly realm of giants—and more besides… It is up through Yggdrasil that Dasha will have to go in order to find her father, who carelessly argued with a one-eyed old man at a “medieval” festival in Old Ladoga—and vanished… Who could have thought that the stranger was Odin, the supreme god of the Vikings? And now, with the help of one sharp-tongued white horse, Dasha must reach Asgard itself, find her father, and bring him home.
