Noël Châtelais (Châtleau)—a well-known French writer and actress, winner of the Goncourt Prize.
One of her best works is the trilogy “The Lady in Blue,” “The Grandmother of the Poppy Flower,” and “The Girl and the Sunflowers.”
The first novel of the trilogy, “The Lady in Blue,” received the Prix Anna de Noailles. The life of its heroine Solange, a beautiful and successful woman a little over fifty, changes dramatically on the day she accidentally meets on the street a mysterious old lady in a blue silk dress calmly walking among the hurried crowd. Starting by imitating the stranger, Solange comes to true freedom and independence, and finds herself.
The novel “The Grandmother of the Poppy Flower” is devoted to the story of Marthe—the Lady in Blue—and her late, but intense (and happy!) love.
And “The Girl and the Sunflowers” is Marthe’s six-year-old granddaughter, who also experiences the most real story of love.
