Description

Fishing in the forests of Karelia for a newly disabled man who had very recently had half of his right foot amputated continues through July of 1941. The Germans, the Finns, local police, captured Red Army soldiers, the children of a Soviet general, and the main hero frantically scrambling through the aforementioned forests—the end and the edge of it can’t be seen. The task the main character has taken on is such that it’s easier to run yourself into a nearby rock. He needs to save two families of the command staff whose people were captured by German jäger troops from one of the SS “Dead Head” units. He has to improvise. The good news is that a contemporary man ended up in the body of a border sergeant—not hobbling along as before on his one and a half legs.
