H. G. Wells (1866–1946) is an English writer and publicist, author of world-famous science-fiction novels “The Time Machine,” “The Invisible Man,” “The War of the Worlds,” and others.
The satirical novel “A Strange Visitor” (1895) is the story of an angel who descended to Earth. Straight to Sidderford—a little town in England. The angel knows nothing of human passions and vices; he knows nothing about people’s troubles and fears—hunger, illness, death. But gradually, he himself acquires those traits of human nature that at first were alien to him. What will come of it—will the angel become a human being?—you can find out by listening to the audiobook version of the novel.
