Pure Luck

Someone once told me I’m plowing uphill like a tractor… and I look about the same. But my life is already far from the zenith. Things didn’t go my way, even though I tried as hard as I could. And after all that, the cherry on top of my sorrows was a new life falling on me. Yes, the most real new life. I woke up in the body of a merchant’s daughter—and along with it, I found: a drunk father who had mortgaged everything he owned, a clueless mother, and nineteenth-century Moscow outside the window.
