Igor finds himself at the epicenter of an inexplicable catastrophe. A small town is thrown into chaos, people are dying in terrible suffering. Somehow, Igor accidentally saves a boy named Kostik—eleven years old—from a burning trolleybus. The boy begs Igor to take him home to his mother. But in the city, explosions continue, and a black rain falls—rain that brings inevitable death. Even the survivors behave differently, revealing the dark side of their nature.
In these new realities, Igor may be able to survive—he is strong, and a beastly power rages within him, so unconnected to his profession as an architect. But will he be able to save the child too? And why does he even need Kostik?
At the same time, while this strange pair—apparently connected by nothing but the catastrophe and fate—tries to reach the boy’s home, outside the city, in a locked garage, a woman comes to consciousness. She is the victim of a maniac who, for some reason, still hasn’t died after all the injuries he inflicted on her. Perhaps the only thread keeping her in this world and preventing her from dying is hope that, left on a butcher’s table by a killer-maniac, she can escape and save her eleven-year-old son…
