The main character gets into an accident and for some time is forced to move around in a wheelchair. In the end, the boy returns to so-called normal life, because his illness is curable—but during that time he became wiser, kinder, and more understanding. And then something happened to him that happens to everyone strong and wise when trials come.
With her book and her life’s feat, the author wants to give all of us courage. This is a wonderful wish both for the sick and for the healthy.
About the author
The author of the book is Irina Yassina, the daughter of the well-known Russian economist and public figure Yevgeny Grigorievich Yassina. She was born in 1964 in Moscow. In 1986 she graduated from the Faculty of Economics of Lomonosov Moscow State University. Her profession is journalism. Her book “A Man with Human Potential,” published in Lyudmila Ulitskaya’s children’s project “Different. Others. About Others,” is interesting and useful not only for children but also for adults. How and why?
She was only 35 when doctors diagnosed a terrible illness—multiple sclerosis. The familiar surroundings changed beyond recognition: betrayal by her husband, loneliness, a wheelchair… It seemed that life was over. But such twists of fate made our heroine even more love her life. A person of the highest willpower, an example of high human dignity, she wrote a book important not only for people with disabilities but also for healthy people, so they understand how to value life, how to treat those who have been struck by misfortune, and how important it is not to lose presence of mind even in the hardest circumstances that any person— the healthiest, the strongest, the most beautiful—may face. The ability to show compassion is one of the best human qualities. Irina wishes all of us courage. This is a wonderful wish both for the sick and for the healthy.
