Convenience Store Woman

Keiko Fuurukura has been doing part-time work in a kombini—the Japanese mini-market—for eighteen years. She is reserved and not like her peers: she lives alone, doesn’t date anyone, doesn’t want to start a family, and doesn’t look for stable work. Her entire life follows the kombini schedule, where she knows every product and every shelf by heart.

But to everyone around her, Keiko seems strange. She keeps catching curious side glances and constantly hears from her friends: “You’ll find yourself a man someday…”

Then, one day, a new employee appears in the kombini—a coincidence that turns Keiko’s life upside down…
