Human Nature

The name of Thomas Hobbes is one of the great philosophers of his time, among them Bacon, Descartes, Gassendi, Pascal, Spinoza, Locke, and Leibniz. He was a materialist and developed the concept of the supremacy of law, which made him a scholar of world significance. Hobbes also became a founder of political philosophy, creating theories of the social contract and state sovereignty.
