Chekhov in Life

The book "Chekhov in Life" is a documentary montage in which, through numerous testimonies from A. P. Chekhov’s contemporaries — his relatives, friends, and acquaintances — an image of the writer is built. The book examines various aspects of his life: family, education, faith, creativity, medicine, and others. Chekhov appears in different roles: caring son, favorite of friends, traveler, gardener, and a smart conversationalist. The author of the book, Igor Nikolaevich Sukhikh — a well-known literary scholar and professor at Saint Petersburg University — studies not only Chekhov’s work, but also his personal drama and fate.
