The Hour of the Dragon

The main novel in Robert E. Howard’s oeuvre, which gave birth to the genre of heroic fantasy, spawned hundreds of imitators, and made Conan the Cimmerian a literary super-star.

Conan smashed the Picts head-on at Velitrium—back then a barbarian commanded the Aquilonian army. The victory put him on the throne of Aquilonia—though he had to free himself from the cruel king first. Since Conan himself was a simple man, his realm prospered under him. But jealous neighbors decided to overthrow him from the throne. They succeeded—though only for a short time. How Conan saved his kingdom—read in the novel “The Hour of the Dragon.”
