Description
Light, sunny prose about women who are always above circumstances!
Where to run from problems, bad weather, boredom, and a foul mood?
Of course—to sunny Italy, to its azure sea, wonderful flowers, golden oranges, and a cloudless sky!
That’s how an eccentric company gathers in the castle of San Salvatore near Genoa: Lotti, a woman obsessed with saving money and her husband’s endless devotion; Rose, the wife of a fashionable writer, consumed by charity and religion; Carolinе, a beauty suffocating under unwanted male attention; and—unbelievably wealthy, arrogant, and stingy Mrs. Fisher, a widow.
What does such an interesting lineup of ladies who suddenly find themselves in the same place promise? Humor, humor, and once again humor!..
In 1991, the novel was adapted into a film.
This collection also includes Arnim’s debut work—a novella «The Garden of Elizabeth».
