The Little Brother from the Pumpkin

The fairy tale “Pumpkin’s Little Brother” about a girl, Dominika, and her little brother Kukulik, who was born right out of a pumpkin, was written by the Slovak storyteller Maria Durickova. This is an unusual fairy tale because many adults heard it when they were small and remembered for life a sweet little song from this story:

Once upon a time there was Dominika, Tra-la-la-la, Tra-la-la-la-la-la.
