Description
The story of Lavr Kornilov— the fearless defender of Great Russia and an embodiment of courage, whose name is still preserved in national memory.

This audiobook about his fate and feat reveals little-known episodes of the tragic military history of Russia in the early twentieth century.

Lavr Kornilov was an outstanding Russian military leader and military attaché, who devoted himself to the Fatherland without reservation. He gained fame in the Russo-Japanese War, and during the First World War he became the first general who managed to break out of captivity. Before the 1917 Revolution, Kornilov carried out intelligence missions, and afterward was appointed commander of the troops of the Petrograd Military District.

The book introduces the ideas and worldview of the “Kornilov movement,” shows the main stages in the formation of the Volunteer Army, and tells about the legendary 1st Kuban campaign, which entered history as the “Ice March.”

Kornilov, a convinced defender of the officer corps, was known for determination and bravery. “Personally, I don’t need anything except the preservation of Great Russia,” he said. In the hour of the most difficult trials, according to M. Rodzianko, all of thinking Russia looked at him “with hope and faith.” He tragically died during the assault on Yekaterinodar, but his role in the formation of the White movement is truly invaluable.
