The novel consists of five parts—five tragic fates; five stories about friendship and betrayal, faith and treachery, love and indifference—about how “Big Money” is made in modern Russia and what people might do when Big Money turns into a “Big Slice.” It’s five almost documentary biographies, behind which stands the story of the newest Russian business. Eighty-five years ago, American writer Theodore Dreiser created the famous novels “The Financier” and “Titan” about the power of money. “The Big Slice” is the debut of Yulia Dubova, the first business novel written by an insider participant in the events.
The novel “The Big Slice” (1999) entered the “top thirty” of the Booker Prize 2000. According to the plot, Pavel Lungin made the film “The Oligarch” (2002).
Yuliy Anatolyevich Dubov is a Russian entrepreneur, writer, and scholar. Doctor of Technical Sciences.
