Chak Palahniuk’s cult novel “Fight Club,” first published in Russian, has already gained a lot of attention in Russia thanks to the no less cult film of the same name by David Fincher and the Jim Uhls screenplay published in the magazine “Movie Screenplays.” And now, at last, the reader can meet the novel that gave rise to similar “fight clubs” around the world—including here in Russia. So what is “Fight Club”? But—shh! The first rule of Fight Club says: “You do not talk about Fight Club.” Better read it! Especially since Palahniuk’s novel sheds even deeper light on the philosophical problems posed by D. Fincher’s film adaptation—the problems of “Generation X,” which collided with an overabundance of rational information while the stream of emotional life had completely dried up.
