“If there is a paradise, this is what it looks like. If there is hell, this is how you’ll feel here. Welcome—Beaufort outpost.”
The novel “Beaufort” by the Israeli journalist and writer Ron Leshem (in the original Hebrew, it’s titled “If Paradise Exists”) is written in the form of a diary of an officer, commander of a unit serving at one of the outposts in southern Lebanon in the last year of the Lebanese war.
