In the summer of 1944, the family of Eva Mozes Kor arrived at Auschwitz, where her parents and older sisters were killed in the gas chambers. Eva and her twin Miriam were taken by Dr. Josef Mengele, known as the “Angel of Death”—they were only 10 years old.
Their story is a story of strength and the will to live in the face of absolute evil. Eva decided to publicly forgive the Nazis and founded the Holocaust Museum and educational center CANDLES in Indiana. Here she gives lectures about the Holocaust, teaches forgiveness, and works to eliminate hatred and prejudice in the world.
