In the novel “The Battle of Iron Chancellors,” the author reflects a picture of complex diplomatic relations in Russia during the most acute European political crises of the 50–70s of the 19th century. The novel is defined by the writer as “purely” political: “No embellishments. No fiction. A novel from the history of national diplomacy.” In opposition to the Russian diplomat Gorchakov, as a worthy antithesis, stands the German Reich chancellor Otto von Bismarck.
