Without Christ Everything Is Vanity

“Vanity of vanities!” said Ecclesiastes. “Vanity of vanities! Everything is vanity! What benefit does man get from all the labor he labors at under the sun?”—this is how my favorite book of the Bible begins.

And indeed, any sensible person sooner or later thinks: “Why did I come into this world? To eat and drink? To have children? To go to work?” But that is silly, gentlemen! And sooner or later you understand: everything I have been striving for does not satisfy me; my soul demands something greater! But where is that greater thing, and how can it be found?
This is exactly what the book of Ecclesiastes is devoted to, which is included in the Bible. In this audio disc, you are presented with a cycle of talks where this work is examined in detail. First, the text is read, and then it is commented on. Almost after every talk, the priest answers questions (which is also interesting to listen to). The talks are conducted by Father Maksim Kaskun—the rector of the Church of the Holy Prophet and Seer Moses at the Khotkovo boarding school for children with severe speech disorders of the Holy Trinity Sergius Lavra courtyard.
