Description

The giant whaling ship “Southern Cross” was crushed and trapped by polar ice. Five hundred people in the icy emptiness of Antarctica faced the threat of certain death. The message that the vessel had been abandoned was the last thing that reached the outside world. Rescue ships were forced to turn back and return to base.
