The Ardys audio studio presents the final part of Vladimir Dudintsev’s novel “White Garments,” devoted to the period of “lysentsevshchina” in Soviet biological science—when genetics was declared an ideologically hostile trend, and the “official science” approved by the party leadership became the scientific views of Academician-agronomist Trofim Lysenko. The main character, a young biologist Fyodor Dezhkin, arrives in a small town on assignment to track the work of an agricultural institute in connection with information about a clandestine organization of Weismannists-Morganists operating there. Dezhkin quickly realizes that the truth lies with the disgraced scientists, and he joins their ranks. He makes his moral choice and, courageously facing tragic trials, remains faithful to the cause of his life.
