Audio studio “Ardis” presents the second part of Vladimir Dudintsev’s novel “White Coats,” dedicated to the period of the “lysenkoism” in Soviet biological science, when genetics was declared ideologically hostile, and “official science” approved by the party leadership became the scientific views of the agronomist-academician Trofim Lysenko. The main hero, the young biologist Fyodor Dezhkin, comes to a small city with a task to observe the work of a research institute connected to information about the existence there of an underground organization of Weismannists-Morganists. Dezhkin quickly realizes that the truth lies with the disgraced scientists—and joins their ranks. He makes his moral choice and, bravely facing tragic trials, remains faithful to the cause of his life.
