Alexei Nikolayevich Pokrovsky (March 1, 1924 — August 30, 2009) was a Soviet and Russian actor and singer, People’s Artist of the RSFSR.
He became widely known as a performer of songs and romances. In the 1960s–1980s, he performed 12 musical-poetic compositions on television, featuring the best poems and songs of the era in the performer’s interpretation, accompanied by himself on a small Viennese seven-string guitar. At least in five of these concert films, as well as on three gramophone records by A. Pokrovsky, the accompaniment (together with other musicians) is performed by an instrumental ensemble conducted by Anatoly Tsadikovskiy. Winner of the TV contests “Song-74” (“The Song of the Factory Whistle”) and “Song-75” (“Take off your greatcoat, let’s go home”).
The musical-literary composition presented here is based on the works of the Russian fabulist Ivan Krylov.
