The novel “The Black Tower” repeated the success of all the author’s previous works and is rightfully considered a world bestseller. This book is about a meeting of people who live in completely different dimensions. The life of young artist and art critic David Williams, who comes to visit the old and renowned painter Henry Bresley, is made of conventions and theoretical inventions. This is reflected in his art: David’s paintings lack genuine depth and charm. For Henry, on the contrary, there are no authorities or rules. There is only an all-consuming “I,” which allows him to create vivid and original canvases. Henry calls the Black Tower the hidden place where the spirit of a man who subordinated his life to conventions and excessive fashion—and, as a consequence, forever lost himself—has taken refuge.
