We offer you the audiobook “Bashi-Achuk” — a historical tale by Akakiy Tsereteli (1840–1915), an outstanding Georgian poet, writer, thinker, public figure, and educator, as well as the author of the lyrics to the famous Georgian song “Suliko.”
At the beginning of the 17th century, the Persian invaders attacked the eastern region of Georgia and occupied the Kingdom of Kakheti. The Georgians rose up against the conquerors. The folk Georgian hero Glaha Bakradze, whom the enemies called Bashi-Achuk—translated from Persian as “a rider with an uncovered head”—bravely fights for the liberation of Kakheti from the Persian shah’s rule.
