We owe a lot to the Age of Enlightenment. It was then that a situation formed of coexistence between two types of poetry: the high, serious, official, stately—and the mocking, unprintable kind, which was full of obscene language. Moreover, the second mocked the first, imitating its pompous tone while at the same time saturating the poetic text with low, profane vocabulary. In this collection you will find audio versions of works that until recently were considered blasphemous, indecent, terrible, and depraved—yet belonged to Russian refined literature without any reservations or conditions. What’s more, these works form a treasure trove of Russian classical erotic literature.
