As a child, I became seriously interested in chemistry—above all, its pyrotechnic side. This hobby stayed with me through my youth, my student years, and even the army. Over that time, quite a few stories accumulated—some funny and some not—so I decided to share them.
The events take place in the 1970s–1980s. A lack of knowledge, equipment, and reagents, the risk of experiments, and the reckless spirit of youth noticeably influenced everything described in the book. In other words, it’s about what simple, reliable, and spectacular—though sometimes rarely useful—things could be made from a poor set of questionable reagents, without instruments or serious preparation, preferably with minimal damage.
The audio version is a shortened and revised version of the e-book. I kept the most fascinating stories, removed overly “chemical” passages, cut out some sections, and greatly trimmed the notes and explanations: for those who are not in the know, they’re unnecessary. If questions arise or you want more details—please refer to the e-book.
As a bonus, the text used for the narration is included.
