The mid-1960s. A split is brewing in Bulgaria’s leadership. One part of the ruling elite is pushing for a restoration of Stalinism; they are opposed by those who argue for the country’s independence from Soviet ideology. The conflict is fueled to the limit by the CIA. Bulgarian intelligence knows the exact date of the coup, but cannot neutralize the masterminds of the plot. A group “Don” led by Major Vyacheslav Bogdanov is sent to help. Getting close to the instigators takes time. But the Bulgarian security forces unexpectedly begin acting ahead of schedule.
