Butterflies

Six inseparable schoolgirl friends spend the summer at the dacha of one of the girls, under the supervision of her father—a writer named Zinkichi. Watching the girls, Zinkichi is charmed by their childish beauty and their openness, and is struck by the sincerity and ease of their communication. But everything has to end. The summer is over, and the rainy autumn begins—bringing troubling news of a deadly illness afflicting one of the friends, Yamachine.
