“Avadhuta-gita” is an uncompromising advaitic (non-dual) teaching about the unity of all that exists, taught by the avatar Dattatreya. It contains lessons addressed to His student Kartika. Without one’s own internal transformation, a person will not be able to either understand that advaitic state or know about it from any books, because It is completely transcendent and beyond human existence. In this teaching, an attempt is made to convey the essence of That advaitic state in terms of this relative world.
“Avadhuta-gita” contains such advaitic postulates that only their contemplation and repetition help the reader get rid of illusion and realize the higher Truth: that there is nothing different from his true “Self,” which is boundless.
