Maya seems to have everything going well—she has a loving father, a great job, and a caring boyfriend, Ryan—but her longing for her mother, who died too early, still won’t let her live in peace.
Maya decides to escape from her problems into the Arctic, but anxiety is a very heavy baggage, and the Arctic doesn’t match her expectations: instead of a magical northern lights display—there’s terrible cold and a polar night.
In an attempt to find balance, Maya takes a job as a cook and starts preparing Indian food using recipes from her mother’s cookbook. That’s when the Arctic stops being scary—thanks to the warming dishes, Maya finds friends and regains confidence in herself.
