A dictionary and educational volume about the Arab world in one book. Its authors—Denis Ansonov and Eldar Mirzaev—are graduates of the Institute of Asian and African Studies of MSU, passionate about the history and culture of Arab countries and truly in love with the Arabic language—the “Latin of the East.” They teach Arabic, took part in Olympiads and international projects, worked as translators and accompanied delegations, and also translated children’s fairy tales. They dream of visiting every Arab country and understanding the mysterious and captivating East more deeply. One of their special passions is Arab cuisine: baklava, falafel, and hummus are for them not just food, but a part of their beloved culture—so much so that once they really spent an entire day crossing the desert on camelback.
