How can we explain why the United Kingdom, for centuries, has remained Russia’s chief geopolitical rival? What factors determine the character of Russian–British relations from the time of Ivan the Terrible to the present day?
The first book in a new series, written by the well-known journalist and TV host Igor Prokopenko together with Armen Oganesyan, editor-in-chief of the journal “International Life” and a member of the Union of Writers of Russia, offers answers to these questions based on analysis of archival materials, documents, and correspondence.
The study is based on documents from the archives of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Central Archive of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, the Central Archive of the FSB, as well as archives in the United Kingdom, including the National Archives of the UK.
