A poem about the brave shepherd Andrieshe, based on Moldovan folk fairy tales.
The sorcerer Black Whirlwind kidnapped Andrieshe’s flock along with his beloved sheep Miorа, who had the gift of speech, and his faithful dog Lupar. Overcome with deep grief, Andrieshe goes in search of the flock. Everywhere he meets the unfortunate suffering at the hands of the Black Whirlwind, and he helps them all. The journey is difficult and dangerous—enemies lurk everywhere, but friends are found everywhere as well.
A poem about ardent love for the homeland, about self-sacrifice, about fearlessness.
In 1954, at the Kishinev film studio for newsreels and documentaries, this fairy tale was adapted into an eponymous feature film.
