The first part of Leonid Mlechin's book “An Alibi for a Great Singer” (from the “Superwomen Spies of the 20th Century” series) is devoted to the mysterious fate of the famous Russian singer Nadezhda Plevitskaya. As the wife of one of the leaders of the White émigré movement, she successfully worked for Soviet intelligence.
Love and espionage are the main theme of the second part of the book. It tells the tragic story of a German woman who, for the sake of the man she loved, committed treason, was convicted, and remains imprisoned in West Germany to this day.
