A well-known Iranian writer faces difficulties that threaten her professional work, one she has spent many years on and sacrificed much for. Looking for comfort, she turns to her collection of books, deciding to arrange them alphabetically and read those she hasn’t read yet. During the process, she holds imagined dialogues with the books, using their ideas to make sense of the reality around her—political events, her personal life, including her mother’s death, her divorce, and her son’s illness. Her reflections are saturated with memories of her youth, gaining independence at 16, difficulties in relationships with her parents, and searching for her place in the world. This work is a loving tribute to literature, combining a novel, a diary, an essay, and a study of her own identity.
