“I’m the character you shouldn’t like.” — Alan Rickman
“Alan Rickman. A Creative Biography” is the first book in a new series “MOVIEvision” published by Bombora together with the legendary film magazine “SEANS.”
Alan Rickman became a hero for audiences around the world thanks to his role in the Harry Potter film series. But that’s far from his only brilliant role. How did it all begin, and what was the actor’s path to his dream? At 26, Rickman already had a higher education and even his own design studio. Still, his soul yearned for the stage. So he left his established life and, in 1972, enrolled in the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. Everything then fell into place. Since then, Rickman has played hundreds of roles in theater and film. He was Vicount de Valmond, the villain German in “Die Hard,” the vicious sheriff of Nottingham, Grigory Rasputin, and Metatron—an angel. And this is only a part of the many-sided kaleidoscope of the actor’s roles.
In 2016, Alan Rickman passed away. It became a deafening tragedy for many of his fans all over the world. But his memory will remain with us forever.
Sticks up, gentlemen!
