“The Academy of Dark Arts” is a book about what the magical world actually turns out to be—not a fairy-tale place at all. Seven first-year necromancers will have to understand firsthand how difficult it is to be a dark mage while living in a hypocritical and cruel society of a magical dictatorship. Will they summon freebies before the exam, studying a profession that no one needs, while intrigues and conspiracies swirl around them? Will they manage to live by the agreements adopted in the world, closing their eyes to the horrors and terrible secrets of the fairy-tale world—or will they somehow influence the world?
