The Continental Op

A short, stocky, hard and cynical, pain-indifferent private detective from the “Continental” agency investigates the most tangled cases—from terrible murders to major robberies. At the same time he searches for a girl with silvery eyes and gets into a fight with a one-eared thug nicknamed the Nameless Kid.

The seven stories included in the collection “Continental Agency” were the first significant contribution by Dashiell Hammett to the genre of the “hard-boiled detective” and are the best examples of Hammett’s early work.
