A Christmas story by the outstanding Icelandic writer Gunnar Gunnarsson (1889–1975) is based on real events. Each year at the beginning of Advent (the anticipation of Christmas), the not-so-young Benedict sets out to the mountains to gather lost sheep and save them from death. Helping him are his loyal dog, Leif, and a ram leader, Zhelezjak. This time, they will have to fight in snowbound mountains not only for someone else’s lives—but for their own as well. Published in Russian for the first time.
