On February 28, 1986, the Stockholm police find a bewildered elderly man wandering through the snow in a dressing gown and slippers. He babbles incoherently that he has come from the future, and that today the Prime Minister of Sweden will be killed. A few hours later, Olof Palme is murdered, and the insane old man becomes the chief suspect in the case. The man refuses to talk to the police until a certain Elias Verner arrives.
The police contact Elias Verner. He has no idea who the old man is or why he wants to talk to him, but agrees to help with the investigation.
Elias Verner doesn’t yet know that for him this is the beginning of a terrible adventure in which he will have to be transported to the distant year 2017.
To someone from 1986, 2017 may sound frighteningly fantastic, but besides having to get used to a new time, Elias will also have to figure out who is trying to kill him, why he is so important in this story, what his ex-wife is hiding, how he ended up in this time—and whether the dreadful events he’s running from can be influenced.
