This book brings together the best works of Robert Duncan Milne, who became the founding father of American science fiction by publishing more than 60 stories at the end of the 19th century. Now the University of Dundee has announced an attempt to revive interest in “Herbert Wells’s Scottish answer,” whose works appeared regularly in the literary journal “The Argonaut” from San Francisco, and in how he anticipated changes in climate, drone combat, and satellite communications. Dr. Williams said: “Milne wrote an astonishing number of science-fiction stories and created a list of imagined technologies—some of which were close to what could be created at the time, but others ran far ahead, were strikingly perceptive, and much more precise and faithful. He was more extraordinary in his predictions than many of his contemporaries. He truly was the long-forgotten father of American science fiction.”
