Description

Viktor and Eli met in college—brilliant, arrogant, and, in their own way, lonely. They valued in people only intellect and the drive to reach for more. Growing older and getting drawn into dangerous experiments, they come to the conclusion that supernatural abilities can be gained not only in theory. But trying to bring the idea to life turns into a nightmare.

Ten years later, Viktor breaks free and sets out to find his former friend.
Meanwhile, Eli hunts people with superpowers and methodically destroys each one who possesses them. Both have already paid for the past—with betrayal and loss—and now, armed with power, they become sworn enemies. How will their war end, and who will manage to survive?

Schwab builds a vast universe at the intersection of comic-book momentum and noir authenticity—a world where superpowers don’t make you a hero, and loyalty is never unconditional.

A reissue of the international bestseller by the author of “The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue,” in a new design: an atmospheric cover by pogogu.
