This collection is a compilation of the author’s best military and criminal works, including the cycle of essays “Bandit Petersburg” and the guide “Journalistic Investigation.”
The book is the first volume of a series dedicated to the memory of Andrey Konstantinov (1963–2023). It includes his outstanding military and criminal novels, as well as the cycle of sketches “Bandit Petersburg” and the manual “Journalistic Investigation.”
The collection includes two military novels—Konstantinov’s first and last books—written with an interval of twenty-five years, yet still relevant today.
The book is dedicated to all Soviet servicemen, civilian advisors, specialists, and translators who worked in various countries. It covers those who returned and found their path, and those who didn’t manage that. The only exception is those who betrayed their comrades—there is no forgiveness for them.
This book is a work of fiction, and everything presented in it is the product of the author’s imagination and is not subject to legal use. Any coincidences with real events are accidental, and deviations are intentional.
The story in reality could have been different—and possibly even more terrible. That is exactly why the author took a long time to finish this book.
