A world of magic exists right in the middle of an ordinary city. And even ordinary people can see it. But they can’t get in: a magical wall stands in the way. However, the appearance of the first pioneer was only a matter of time. And it turned out to be an unremarkable guy—Nikolay Kulikov—whose old mage aristocrat, for some reason, decided to pass on his magical gift to him before dying.

The Shy One’s breakthrough becomes an important event; the relationship between mages and ordinary people changes completely. The mages begin to fear an invasion by ordinary people and carefully guard Nikolay’s life. And, it should be said, not without reason. Meanwhile, Kolya is getting accustomed to the world of mages—because to confidently control the gift he received, he has to go through training at a school for the gifted, where the local students aren’t very happy to have him. He’ll have to put these snobbish know-it-alls in their place—for example, by fighting them on a football field as part of a team of simple neighborhood guys.
