Description
"Yasya sat on a chair" is a psychologically subtle novella about a girl who bares her body and her soul to the reader. All her life, Yasia hated her mother and blamed her father for weakness—though she loved him deeply. And now her parents are dead, and she is to blame for their death. Everything Yasia dreams of is not to feel. But in her life, two men appear, awakening conflicting desires in her. One will give her calmness and indifference, the other—emotions and an unrestrained passion.

The romantic thread in the novella is only the tip of a tangled iceberg of the heroine’s deeper feelings. Each chapter plunges the reader into the past or yanks them into the present—until, at last, both ends of the thread meet in an answer to the main question: “Will Yasia get up from the chair?”
