This was supposed to be an ordinary duty. A rapid response unit—and in fact, just a regular PПС patrol—was sent on another shift. A familiar area, Khimmash, never promised surprises: everything was too routine—domestic life, slightly drunk citizens, and hooligans kicking some guy. If only they’d known beforehand how this routine would turn into a nightmare in just a few minutes...

The unit’s commander, Senior Sergeant Ruslan Sitdikov, ordered his men to stop the car—lawlessness had to be stopped, the guilty were to be caught, and the victim was to be given help. But the beaten man showed no signs of life, and the criminals managed to escape. Now they would wait for an ambulance and hand over the corpse of the unfortunate.

Or maybe not a corpse? The man who had just been dead’s heart started pounding wildly. And then a full-on nightmare began. The person got up and lunged at Ruslan and his colleagues.

What is it—an unknown disease, rabies, or a virus that turns people into bloodthirsty zombies? In an instant, Ruslan and his partners from the brave police turned into frightened fugitives.
