Year 2054. The main character is drafted into the army, into a special unit of “mechanics”—people who control artificial robot avatars at a distance. To become a “mechanic,” you must survive the implantation of a special chip into your brain. Thanks to it, each of the ten mechanics in the group can sense their partners as if they were themselves. But what is it like to communicate with people who know everything about you—your life, your flaws, the features of your body, all your most shameful secrets and hidden truths?
